Gōjū-Ryū Kihon idō (basics with movements) applies those drills practiced in Kihon and combines them with forward movements in and out of the basic stances, Sanchin Dachi, Zenkutsu Dachi, Shiko Dachi and HanZenkutsu Dachi. In these versions of Kihon idō, the performer takes three steps forward and three steps backward for each item performed. Kihon idō starts with the left foot forward Sanchin Dachi Tsuki no Kamae (striking posture)
