Irashaimase! Welcome!

Welcome to the Kaizen Gōjūkan Website. By visiting this site, you will be able to get familiar with our Dōjō & the Associations we are affiliated with, in particular the International Karate-dō Gōjū-kai Association & the Master Instructors who inspired my personal training & development.

Our Dōjō is the only recognized Dōjō dedicated to the practice and preservation of Yamaguchi-ha (I.K.G.A.) Karate-dō Goju-ryu & Seiryuu Kenpo in the Midwest.

No matter your age, size, fitness or ability you are welcome at our Dōjō. Our Dōjō teaches traditional Okinawan Matsubayashi-ryu (Shorin-ryu) Karate-dō and Kobudo as founded by Osensei Shoshin Nagamine, Hanshi 10th Dan.

Our Karate Dōjō in Milwaukee offers classes for children, adults and families. With internationally qualified instructors and small class sizes, our Dōjō aims to provide the highest level of quality instruction of martial arts; Goju-ryu Karate-dō (I.K.G.A.), Seiryuu Kenpo (I.S.K.F.), Goshin-jutsu [Self-defense] (S.G.J.R.) to Milwaukee and surrounding area. While Karate is an effective and practical form self-defense, we do not consider it to just be the physical act of punching and kicking, but an avenue to help you develop a wide range of skill sets. Our two key goals are to assist you in improving your:

Mind, through mental robustness, confidence / character development and discipline. Body, through physical conditioning, reflex / co-ordination development and practical self-defense skills.

The Kaizen Gōjūkan Dōjō is the Milwaukee, Wisconsin branch of the I.K.G.A., (affiliated as an individual Dōjō) & a member Dōjō of proposed North American Bloc of the I.K.G.A. Our most senior ranking instructor within the USA, is Ian McGarrity, Kyoshi Shihan, who is based in Florida. Our patriarch, president & most senior instructor is Saiko-Shihan Goshi Yamaguchi, son of our founder Gōgen Yamaguchi, Kaiso.

A personal message:
I would like to take the time to personally welcome you to our Dōjō, regardless of whether you have no experience, or have trained in the martial arts before. You are more than welcome to come along to our Dōjō, whether it is to join, or just train with us, and I look forward to meeting you.

I am positive that through this site, we will find more great friends all over the world and I hope to be able to improve this site with the assistance of good old and new friends.
